Harry’s Hoagie Shoppe

website | 1700a East North St., Greenville, SC 29607
Overall Experience | 7.7 out of 10

Husband-and-wife team Andrew Fallis and Michelle Pavlakos bring Philadelphia hoagies to Greenville, SC. Their “keeping it super simple” philosophy, intriguing menu, and warm hospitality made this stop a lovely experience.

Cheesesteak

I had never heard of Liscio’s Bakery prior to this visit, but I’m officially a fan. I found this 10-inch roll to be soft on the inside, with a crust just firm enough to support the weight of the hoagie. As for the innards, the beef was finely chopped, well-seasoned, and grilled to perfection. I opted to have grilled onions, mushrooms, and peppers on my steak. And of course, cheese bound all of that goodness together. Each bite was perfect. There wasn’t any slippage where a pepper or a slice of beef slid out of the bread as I pulled my mouth away… I think I know where I’m going for lunch again tomorrow.

Macaroni Salad

I bought this on a whim because I needed something else to write about besides the cheesesteak. It was a great decision. Their website describes it as “house-made with our twist on delicious.” Overall, their macaroni salad was very familiar, yet there was something unfamiliar about it at the same time. I asked an employee what that extra “bop” was that I was tasting. They said they didn’t know, but I really think they were keeping it a secret, which I totally respect (lol). If I had to guess, I’d say it was a blend of herbs like oregano and some vinegar. Whatever it was, I found the macaroni salad tasty.
